Not to belabor the point, but I couldn’t help pointing out another way that the San Diego fires and Hurricane Katrina are incredibly dissimilar.
Friday, at noon, the evacuee center at Qualcomm Stadium was closed, with the remaining several hundred evacuees being relocated to the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
Today, at 1 PM, the San Diego Chargers will host the Houston Texans in Qualcomm Stadium, two days after it wrapped up its tenure as an evacuation center.
In contrast, the Superdome was closed for over a year after Katrina, and needed $193 million worth of refurbishment and repair before it could host a game.
